Under a recent proposal by a special task force for the governor of Missouri, eminent domain would not be used to take land within the state for the sole purpose of increasing tax revenue. However property that is declared blighted would be confiscated according to the Missourian News.A judge must decide if in fact, the property is blighted before it can be taken. (Does the judge run for political office and does the judge solicit campaign funds?)
If the judge decides the property is blighted, Missouri doesn’t always require authorities to pay relocation costs to property owners when a property is condemned. How outrageous is that!
