Obama On Bitterness

While I was watching the John Adams final hour on HBO last night, it occurred to me the fight between statists and those loving personal liberty was going on, hot and heavy back then just as now. The Hamiltonian branch pushed Adams for a standing army and a national bank similar to the FED. Jefferson, who understood Hamilton, and Adams argued about these topics for years:

"I have sworn upon the altar of God, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man" Thomas Jefferson*

If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, (i.e., the "business cycle") the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

Thomas Jefferson, President of the United States 1801-1809

Last night emphasized how important it is to have some internal compass to guide you in decision making. Without that compass, advisers on both sides will bring you to a standstill.

Then there's Sen. Barack H Obama and his comments about the little guy and bitterness. Here's one comment posted at PoliPundit:

I am “clinging to religion” because it guides my moral compass and helps me make the right choices. I am clinging to my gun to protect my home and family because I live too close to Detroit. I cling to view on immigration because my country is being invaded and over run with slave laborers who are driving down wages and bankrupting our social services.

This Elitist snob is so out of toch it’s scarry.

Don't look now, but Hillary is gaining. It doesn't matter she can't win, either!

Thomas Jefferson was an amazing man. I doubt he would be elected today.
He did break some of the rules with the Louisiana purchase.

On Saturday, I attended my county Republican Convention for the purpose of electing state delegates. The republicans showed up in full force, in fear of Ron Paul getting a foot hold.
That's OK. Maybe it will wake them up a little bit.Quite amazing to listen to participants run down our state democrat leaders for the same things our national republican leaders are doing.
They were pretty strong about stopping the illegal alien invasion. I hope they get what they want with McCain.
But the scariest part of all was when one of the Ron Paul people spoke up about the constitution. Our county prosecuting attorney said we can't expect such a document to apply in this day and age of technology.
AND YET: (see, I am getting angry)the preamble to the county republican platform says they are dedicated to promoting the principles of our Constitution and Declaration of Independence.

Don't expect the courts to use our constitution. They don't study the constitution. They study the case books.

Oh well, I don't think we will be so fortunate as to get another Jefferson in our time. I guess we should give our prayers of thanks that we got him when we did.
